1776 Tapestry Blanket

$95.00

In 2026, the United States of America turns 250 years old. And for more than 225 of those years — since 1800 — there has been only one permanent capital. Not New York, where the first Congress met. Not Philadelphia, where the nation was born. Washington DC. The city built from the ground up to be the seat of a new kind of government, and the one place that has held that role ever since.

That means DC doesn't just belong to the people who live here. It belongs to every American who ever believed the country was worth building. Your capital. Our capital. The only permanent one we've ever had.

1776 is that idea, woven into cotton.

Blue field. The Unofficial DC logo seated inside a red circle at the center, sunburst rays pushing outward in every direction like something waking up. Red, white, and blue corner stripes carrying stars — the same colors that have meant something in this country since before any of us were here. This isn't nostalgia. This is a blanket for people who still feel something when they think about what this place is supposed to be.

A Jacquard loom made this — not a printer. Every color you see is thread, interlaced one row at a time into the fabric itself. It doesn't sit on the surface. It lives inside the cloth. That's why it never fades, why it's fully reversible, and why it gets softer with every wash instead of falling apart. This is heirloom quality. The kind of thing that still looks right in twenty years.

54" × 72". 100% cotton. Made in the USA. Because some things should be.

About This Blanket

This is a Jacquard woven tapestry blanket, not a printed blanket. Jacquard weaving is a textile technique originating in early 1800s France where a specialized loom interlaces colored cotton threads one row at a time to build the image directly into the fabric. The design is permanent — it will never fade, peel, or crack because the color is the thread itself, not ink applied to a surface. The Unofficial DC logo featured on this blanket is derived from the Washington DC flag, which itself comes from George Washington's family coat of arms. The three stars from the original flag are retained, the two bars are transformed into the letters D and C, and the elements are wrapped in a heart representing love for the city.

The 1776 design commemorates the founding of the United States and the enduring role of Washington DC as the nation's permanent capital since 1800 — the only city to hold that distinction for over 225 consecutive years.

Each blanket is fully reversible, displaying the same design in inverted colors on the back. Made from 100% cotton at a US textile mill with over 50 years of operation. Pre-washed at the mill and gets softer with every wash. Machine washable. Finished with decorative fringe created from the primary thread colors.
